The Lagos House Committee on education, science and technology has requested for a 3year examination analysis carried out on the Junior and Senior Secondary School West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) for 2010-2012 from the Lagos State Examination Board.
The request came as a result of the reports reaching the members from their constituencies and their findings during a meeting with the board management.
The chairman, Hon Wahab Alawiye-King, told the management that, ''Report reaching us is that often time, there are mix-ups in students results; students who do not register for some subjects do get results and the ones who registered don't get any, they usually have 'AB' against their names which means -Absent.''
He stressed that the state is concerned about integrity, saying it must be adhered to.''
In his view, the vice chairman, Hon Gbolahan Yishawu, pointed out that ''after the exams, an extensive analysis should be seriously looked at to assist the board plan and manage the coming year's exam.''
During the meeting, the committee raised another issue on the Trade Test and advised the board to come up with steps that will make the Trade Test to be recognised like the Basic Certificate Examination (BCE).
In his response, a top management staff of the Board, Mr. A.O. Hassan, said there is a lot of improvement in 2013 compared to the past years, saying whenever the board has challenges, they go to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In a related development, the Committee also tasked the Lagos State Library Board Management and frowned at the poor funding of the 11 libraries spread across the State considering the high cost of living in the country.
