The Getty FoundationUSC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and The Getty Foundation is funding arts journalism fellowship program in USA. US and international applicants (critics or reporters or bloggers, and generalists or specialists, Staffs journalists, affiliated freelancers and independents) are eligible for this journalism fellowship. The fellowship covers airfare, accommodation, most meals, reading materials, internet access in hotel room and transportation within Los Angeles. The deadline for applications is July 9, 2013.

Eligibility: The program is looking for arts journalists who are:
•committed to finding and telling stories in new ways, thinking about journalism as a dynamic system and process rather than a product, as well as those who care about finding better ways to engage with audiences.
•committed to thinking imaginatively about information architecture, user interaction, storytelling and visualization of multi-level data with design that is intuitive, simple and fun to use.
•committed to imaginatively finding, adapting and integrating existing digital tools with a focus on ideas/intent behind what is developed rather than specific ways to realize them. Other standard requirements:
•All critics, reporters, writers, bloggers, columnists, editors, broadcasters or producers who specialize in arts, culture or entertainment for an online, newspaper, magazine or broadcast media organization MAY apply.
•The program is NOT intended for entry-level journalists, students or journalism educators.
•Staff, freelancers and self-employed journalists, designers and developers ARE welcome.
•Journalists who are, or have been, professional or amateur artists are encouraged to apply.
•Artists who are, or have been, professional or amateur arts writers, critics, reporters or editors, are encouraged to apply.
•This is a NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL program, applicants from anywhere may apply. Typically one to two finalists come from outside the United States.
•Advanced degrees or specialized training in the arts are NOT required.
•If you have already participated in a USC Annenberg/Getty Fellowship, you may NOT apply. But we do welcome past applicants.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Fellowship is open for national and international journalists.

Scholarship Description: The 2013 USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Program is a fellowship for arts, culture and entertainment editors, producers and writers. During this intense ten-day program, fellows will attend performances and exhibitions, and visit private studios, rehearsal rooms, architectural firms and art schools for behind-the-scenes opportunities to meet renowned artists, art directors, curators, administrators and accomplished journalists.

There will also be a Think & Do workshop in conjunction with the Annenberg Innovation Lab, and other opportunities for balancing meaningful face-to-face dialogue with skill-building practice. Fifteen arts journalists who bring distinction to the field will be chosen from the international applicant pool. The fellowship accepts applicants who practice journalism online and in print, radio and/or television. Their areas of expertise may include architecture, literature, film, pop culture, the visual and performing arts. They can be critics or reporters or bloggers, and generalists or specialists. Staff journalists, affiliated freelancers and independents are welcome to apply. The fellowship is also interested in journalists who are artists. And in artists who are journalists.

Number of award(s): Fifteen arts journalists who bring distinction to the field will be chosen from the international applicant pool.

Duration of award(s): Fellowship duration is ten-days.

What does it cover? The program covers most expenses, including: round trip travel to and from Los Angeles, hotel, most meals, reading materials, Internet access in hotel room and transportation within Los Angeles.
