KOLKATA: The National University of Juridical Sciences ( NUJS) is expected to see some tumultuous agitation on Wednesday. After a long time the faculty meeting has been convened by vice chancellor Ishwar Bhatt and the former have been sharpening their daggers to go against the administration.
Allegations of irregularities in faculty appointment, lack of subject teachers, high handedness win subject distribution, allotting of grace marks to students without consulting teachers are some of the allegations that have been raised against the current administration by the faculty as it complained at the academic council last Saturday with a petition.
The students joined hands with the faculty and submitted a separate petition. The academic council directed Bhatt to immediately call a faculty meeting and sort out the differences. In the meantime, the complains have also reached the Bar Council of India and its representative in Saturday's meeting even promosed to start an investigation in less than a month.
At Wednesday's meeting the faculty plans to pin down the administration asking for replies to "specific complaints and redressal measures," failing which the faculty might even approach the Chief Justice of India, who is the chancellor of the university, to intervene.
