The President of the Congress of Muslim and Christian Students Forum (CMCSF), James Ayodele, has, on behalf of the group called on insurgents to embrace dialogue and peaceful resolution to security challenges in Nigeria.
The body, which visited worship centers and scenes of bomb blasts in Kano State during the completion of Ramadan last Thursday, also held numerous interactive sessions with affected communities and traditional rulers in the State.
The group observed that criminality has crept into religion as many preachers of both Islam and Christianity have abused the freedom of expression through incisive statements.
The group appealed to members of the Boko Haram to take advantage of the amnesty programme by the Federal Government and drop their arms.
He also congratulated the Muslim brothers and sisters for successfully observing the Ramadan.
Ayodele said, "CMCSF rejoices with Muslims all over the country as they successfully observed the Ramadam. We urge them to show the importance and impact of the just concluded Ramadan fast by living in peace and harmony with their Christian brothers and sisters knowing full well that Islam is a religion of peace. Hence, we are using this moment to appeal to Boko Haram to sheathe their swords, renounce violence and make good use of the dialogue and amnesty offered by President Goodluck Jonathan for peace, progress and development of the country."
