The Management of Skye Bank Plc. has donated a well equipped ultra modern Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centre valued at N600 million to the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
Presenting the cheque, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the bank, Mr Kehinde Durosimi-Etti stated that the bank's intervention is in line with its philosophy of supporting plausible, social and educational causes that are of benefits to humanity and aid the extension of the frontier of knowledge.
According to him the university had reputation as a foremost tertiary education institution in Nigeria with global recognition and pedigree in both scholarship and research, adding that this was evident in the fact that the institution has produced some of the nation's best scholars, administrators, captains of industries and professionals in various fields.
"Skye Bank Plc is proud to be associated with the university and its rich history of excellence, accomplishments and breakthroughs which have made it the unassailable academic fortress that it has become," he said.
The Bank CEO disclosed that for Skye Bank, continuous learning was one of its core values and it has demonstrated the commitment through critical and impactful interventions in the education sector against the backdrop that government capacity in funding education is limited and requires the involvement of the private sector in developing the sector.
According to him, "we believe in the bank that complimentary efforts are needed from all stakeholders to help fund education and provide the critical infrastructure needed for effective learning and teaching.
