CSANZ Research Scholarships in Cardiovascular Research in Australia

Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand offers research scholarships in the field of cardiovascular research. Scholarships are awarded for a maximum duration of 12 months. The value of the Scholarship will be equivalent to that of the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship (depending on the candidate's academic qualifications). The application deadline is 20 September 2013.

Eligibility: Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
-be a Member of the CSANZ;
-be a permanent resident in Australia or New Zealand;
-research to be carried out in either Australia or New Zealand;
-not previously been the recipient of the CSANZ Research Scholarship;
-enrolled full-time for a PhD (or equivalent research degree) based on the work of the scholarship;

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of Australia or New Zealand (Member of the CSANZ) can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Description:  The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (hereafter referred to as the CSANZ) invites applications for research scholarships which are intended to enable CSANZ Members to undertake a period of training in research under the full-time supervision of a nominated responsible investigator.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships are awarded for a maximum duration of 12 months. Scholars are not eligible to reapply for a scholarship in subsequent years as it is expected that the CSANZ scholarship will provide successful applicants with sufficient research experience to enable them to secure a Heart Foundation and/or NHMRC Postgraduate Research Scholarship to support their ongoing research activity in subsequent years.

What does it cover? The value of the Scholarship will be equivalent to that of the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship (depending on the candidate's academic qualifications).

Selection Criteria: Assessments will be conducted using a 6 point system developed by the CSANZ Scientific Committee. Each application will be given a score for relevance, merit/feasibility, track record and overall quality of application.

Notification: Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in January. Successful applicants are provided with administrative details relating to funding.
